The habit that I find easiest is: Have confidence in myself as a competent, effective learner
The habit that I find the hardest is: Play! Too many other priorities.

Thing 23!!!
1. What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
The online productivity (word processing, etc) and the audio ebooks in Overdrive.
2. How has this program asisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
It has given me a very nice overview of many things that I did not previously know about.
3.Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
The online wordprocessing
4. What could we do differently to improve upon this program's format or concept?
As a parttimer, I found it fairly easy to complete the program because it was definitely scheduled as part of my job. I know that the full time librarians have had a much harder time trying to complete the assignments. Even if their time is scheduled, there are always higher priorities that need to be done--or just urgent priorities--like overflowing toilets, etc.
5. If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again choose to participate?
Definitely!! I would never have explored these topics without this program.
6. How would you describe your learning experience in a few words or a few sentences, so we can share our successes and promote this program?
I enjoyed exploring the various topics. Without this program, I probably would not have explored most of the topics. I probably will never use most of it but at least I now am familiar with it when patrons mention it.
Thank you for organizing this program!!

Thing 22 Overdrive
I listened to the Overdrive tutorial and also looked at the catalog on BCPL's home page. I like the selection of titles better than Project Gutenberg's. My eleven-year-old now has an mp-3 player and I can see the possibility of her downloading a book to listen to on vacation. We currently use books on CD and books on tape that we all listen to. This way she could have her own.

Thing 22
I checked out Project Gutenberg and found several titles that might be fun--Old Tarzan books that the libraries no longer have. However, I don't know if I would ever download a book because I like my book to be portable--not tied to a computer. I examined e-books years ago and was not impressed because I prefer regular books--call me old fashioned. When I have time I will go through the tutorials for the other downloadable book sites.

Thing 21 success
I used yahoo podcasts and listened to the old farmers almanac. I then added it to my bloglines and it actually works!
Thing 21, cont
I checked out podcastalley.com. I has able to start listening to a broadcast. I find it difficult to find anything that I really want to listen to. I found jugglers on juggling but it was going to go on for an hour and 25 minutes. I listened to about 2 minutes of it and they still hadn't really gotten to anything about juggling--I don't have an hour and 25 minutes!
Thing 21
I listened to the ninja and then read the pages on podcasts. I went to podcast.net and then home and lifestyle. I selected pets but every podcast I clicked on just opened, sat there and did nothing.

Thing 19 cont.
Unfortunately, it seems that I cannot get back to my calendar without purchasing a domain name. So I will not be using it.

Thing 19
I explored several items on Web 2.0 awards list. I am interested in a calendar so I looked under organization. I checked out Backpack but their calendar but it is a fee only service. I then looked into google.com/a. I was able to access their calendar and actually list some events. When I tried to go back to it. I got the part that said that I needed a domain--which I don't want. I was able to stumble back to my calendar. I need to try again another time and see if I can find my calendar. :)

Thing 18 cont
It was easy to post to my blog. This seems to be very useful. I am wondering if people use this instead of Word, could they import into their email easier on the public computers????????

Thing 17
I accessed Maryland Libraries Sandbox and added my blog to the favorite blogs list under Baltimore County Public Library. Fortunately, I had help for a change!

Thing 11 - part 2
I wasn't happy that only 5 of my books were showing at a time so I revisited Library thing and reconfigured my listing to show 20 books.
Thing 15
Library 2.0. Well, I read all of the articles. I agree that sometimes it is easier to find things on the web and that we do not need books on ALL topics for everyone. But some things are still easier to find in a book--not many--but a few.

thing 14
I read about Technorati and looked up Learning 2.0 in posts, blogs, videos and photos. All showed different hits. I also looked at top favorited blogs, top searches, and top blogs. I checked out boing boing.
thing 13
I watched and listened to the otter podcast on del.icio.us. I looked at the PLCMCL2 account and checked out a few resources. I clicked on the list at the right on the work "free" and found a site for icons. I am not sure that I can see myself using it.

I set up my bloglines account and have feeds coming in. I tried to link it to my blog but have not been successful. :( Any hints. I followed what I thought were the directions but evidently I am not pasting the url in the right place.

I'm learning and thing 6
I learned how to change the title of my posting! I also spent time looking at flikr mosaics.
thing 7
Re: technology: I am excited that I am able to add pictures to my blog. I was able to figure it out by myself and actually do it! (at least I know how to add pictures to my email, save pictures to desktop and add them to the blog)

thing 5
Acutally, posting the picture was for week 3, thing 5. I also read about mashups. Not yet ready for that. :)
finally back
After 3 weeks, I am finally back working on 23. I think I forgot what little I learned the time I got started. I have read up on Flikr, figured out how to log back on, and am actually leaving another post--so I guess I didn't forget everything! Now to figure out how to load a picture. :)
